RISE handcrafts our soap using the hot and cold process soap making which is the act of mixing a high percentage of nutrient rich oil, butter, and herbs for a fluffy creamy lather that conditions and moisturizes. and butters with sodium hydroxide. Both ways allow for he goodness of the natural ingredients to remain. The result is called saponification, where the composition of the oils change with the help of the lye to create a loaf of soap. These loaves are then cured 4-6 weeks and cut into bars. Here's s a few tips to help your handmade soaps last a little longer:
- Don't let your soap sit under running shower too long
- Give your soap plenty of fresh air in between uses.
- Store your soap on a well drained soap dish.
- Use a natural wash cloth or loofah to extend its life.
- Use your fresh new soap within 6 months of purchase.
- Store unused soap in a dark cool place
Most handmade soaps do not behave like the mass produced chemical laden soaps from the factories therefore if not cared for properly you will shorten their life.
It is also important to remember that there is no lye or sodium hydroxide left in the handmade soaps after saponification occurs.
